Sjirafje over Alchemised

A story about war, about perspectives, about politics, about secrets. About history being written. About how situations shape people. And even a bit about the generational affect of power and war. Hope, despair and a dose of cold reality. Unsung heros and history told by the people in charge. A hard story mixed in beautifully with a world combining both magic and alchemy. A little bit on the darker side, but it's trying to say away from the trap of cliché 'dark brooding' male main characters and 'saviorcomplex' main female characters. And I think she succeeded. When balancing on the edge the coin always fell back to the realistic side instead of the overromanticised side.
The only part I sometimes had trouble fully understanding were the array parts. That means it's not overly explained at least. But I'm a newby at alchemy lit, so that might also be something they assumed their target audience will understand?
I spend days on end reading this book. I thought the story very well put together, starting at an interesting point in time.
I have not previously read anything from this author. But after writing the review above I watched a video where they explain their writing proces. I'm all in on them. I fully believe they could even add a sequel and find a way to make it an unique story. Curious to see what comes next for this writer.
