A political thriller .. ahem fairy tale
29 jan 2023
George Orwell's Animal Farm is considered his political novel(la). And that is correct. But it is also a fairy tale, as that was at one time the sub title of this story.
The novel tells the story of the animals on a farm that oust the humans and start managing the farm by themselves. This is subscribed by there mantra: two legs bad, four legs good (humans bad, animals good). Which from the start sets the conflict of the story.
In the story the animals start calling themselves 'Comrade' which push the animals on the farm in the direction of communism. But as in the real world pure communism doesn't exist. So we see a corrupted form of communism come into existence. (Power corrupts. Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.) The people in the top do absolutely heinous things to stay in power.
This is a good story which has not aged, because the under current of the story is still true today.
